Day 37 - The Blue Whale, The Fit Queen and The Expo.

March 15, 2013        244 lbs

Today I was to ride for one hour which was to include six, 45 second Zone 3 intervals. I looked forward to doing the ride but alas, I couldn't do it. The main reason was busy and got progressively more busy as time went on and secondly, I felt pretty beat up today. Both my ankle and my shoulder were bugging me all day. And in other news, I have another 5k tomorrow. The L.A. BIG 5k. A race before the big race of the L.A. Marathon. Months ago, I signed up to do both the 5k and the marathon which happens on Sunday. I figured that by the time the marathon rolled around, I would be in good enough shape do both. Of course then I got injured a few weeks into training ans could not build up enough miles the complete the marathon training. Regardless, today was race packet pick up at The Nutribullet Health & Fitness Expo.

First I would like to say Thaaaaannnkkk Yooooouuu!!! to Christopher Dombos for driving me around today. My wife's car is in the shop so she has mine. But in an even greater act of coolness, he's picking me up tomorrow (or I should say later this morning as I'm writing this at 12:40 am) and driving me to the race and back. What a guy!

The expo itself was nice and had a lot of venders. I saw Nadia Ruiz, fitness role model a cool lady working the New Years Race booth again.

It's tough being an Internet Personality sometimes!
I grabbed my packet with only a slight amount of hassle.  My t-shirt size was listed as medium on the race bib. So I had to explain the problem to race person.

Me: Hi, this has me listed as a size medium but I'm actually an XL.
Race Person: Yeah, you look like a.   .   .(covers mouth embarrassed looking up at me wide eyed.)
Me: Yeah, yeah, I'm working on it. Sheesh! That's right make fun of the fatty!

By that point the race lady was pretty embarrassed at my teasing so I winked at her and walked away in mock frustration.
I made a new discovery as well. Dehydrated coconut water! You just add a tablespoon to your water, smoothie or whatever you like and you get all the potassium and other electrolytes of regular coconut water. I'm going to mix it into my "Datorade" that I make for long rides when I don't have regular coconut water.

Well, it's now 1:40am and I have to get up at 5:00am. Until tomorrow my friends.
