Today, I was to run for forty-five minutes at Zone 2 and the last fifteen minutes at Zone 3. I didn't do it. Instead I helped a friend improve their swimming for a few hours, took care of some pressing errands and went to an industry convention to see some old friends and scout for some work. Sadly, I didn't get a single picture! The business that I have been a part of since the nineties is just not paying the bills anymore. That business by the way, for those that don't know me, is the film industry. Something I have loved since I was small.
It seems as I evolve as an athlete and as a person I might have to evolve into another career as well. It's weird because the farther I go on this little adventure, the less afraid I am to branch out into other things. Changing careers is never easy though, especially when you are in your forties. (By the way, this does not mean the people I normally work with shouldn't still call me for work. I haven't switched yet!)
Whatever I end up doing will need to be something I truly love. I have been told that I am a good teacher, (I taught at a vocational school for eight years.) A friend recently suggested I would be a good coach, and that made me happy. I have a long way to go before I could be a professional coach though. Have to do a little more than the few races I've completed.
I like to help people and I have a creative part of me that must be fed or I would go crazy. This is something that I acknowledge. Finding that perfect combination may prove to be tricky.
Here is a pretty sunset just so there is one image in the blog!
Until tomorrow my friends.
