Day 131 - Birthday Swimming

June 17, 2013      235.6 lbs

Happy Birthday to me! That's right, today I'm the big 4-4 or forty-four. It is hard to believe that I've made it this far. One hundred and thirty one days into Ironman training. It is a challenge, but I'm still happy to be here.

Today I was planning to do the brick workout I was supposed to do yesterday. I managed to get the swim finished but didn't have time for the run as The Boss had plans for me to go out to eat at Shojin in down town L.A. This of course was after an emergency stop at Petco for more poopy bags. How much can one little dog poo and pee!?

So, I did the swim workout:

3200 yards =

200 wup
200 kick
200 pull
200 catch up drill
then - 16x150 with 35-40 sec. rest - super steady and if you are in control of your effort, push a little harder the last 4.

When I finally broke away from the puppy, it was around 3:00 pm so I didn't have much hope about the pool being clutter free. When I arrived, it was packed but as I put my goggles, cap and ear plugs on/in, everyone left! I was alone for the first half of the workout. I really like this workout,  all those 150 yard repeats become almost hypnotic with the effort. Felt good to stretch out in the pool. After, I headed home, did more puppy stuff then went to downtown L.A. for dinner.

Well, that's it for right now. Tomorrow I have a triple brick or in other words a triathlon for a workout!
