Day 141 - Warm Swimming and Easy Spinning

June 27, 2013       235.4 lbs

How about that goofy smile? Today was a brick workout of swimming and biking. The swim workout was:

200 swim - 200 kick - 200 pull
10x100 - 10 sec rest - every 5th one easy
10x75 - 10 sec rest - pulling, breathing 3,5,7 by 25
10x50 kick - 10 sec rest
10x25 - 10 sec rest - fast, NO FREEstyle
400 swim long and steady

This time I was at the neighborhood pool and had forgotten how warm the water was. But first, is my leg from the accident last night. You can see where the previous scar is from the bike accident.
The pool got a little crowded with kids that seemed to do exactly the opposite of whatever their parents told them.

I had a lot of 100's to open up with and was cruising along feeling strong. All the sudden, one of the kids started to drown. Next thing I know, I'm teaching the kids how to swim. The Boss and Orion the Puppy came by the pool at the end of the workout. I would have let the dog in the pool if no one else was there.

The sun was setting by the time I was finished swimming. I went home to change and then picked up some food at Chipotle.

After dinner, it was time to ride! The workout assigned was a one hour easy spin.

I decided to ride around my neighborhood for the hour. However, my neighborhood is all hill so I was out on the main road at the bottom in no time and heading towards Hansen Dam.

Fortunately, there were not many cars out. I knew the ride back up the hill at the end would have me outside my training zone, but what the heck. It ended up being about 1000 feet of elevation.

At the end I was overlooking the San Fernando Valley as I rode for a few cool down minutes.

A nice ride with a little hard work at the end. Overall an okay training day. Juggling puppy care/attention with training is tricky sometimes. I cant imagine having small kids and training for Ironman. Kudos to everyone that does! Until tomorrow my friends.
