Day 249 - The Big Century Part 2.

October 13, 2013            No weight this week.

I took the above picture yesterday when I got home from the century ride. I found it on my phone today and thought it was pretty funny!

Also, in looking at yesterdays blog I realized that I didn't discuss my hydration. I had taken two 24oz water bottles, both filled with a double shot of Skratch Labs Hydration Mix and filtered water. I also had my Camelbak Hydrobak 50 oz pack filled all the way up with filtered water.  Because the weather was cool out, I didn't feel really thirsty during the ride. I had to make myself drink and by the time we got to the halfway point, I still had one full Skratch Labs filled water bottle and half of my hydration pack. Romeo bought a gallon of water and I topped off. By the end of the ride, I still hadn't drank much. This might have contributed to how I was feeling towards the end. The cool weather masked that I was probably dehydrated. Lesson learned. Thinking about a separate timer on the bike just for nutrition. The reason is, my Garmin makes the same alarm sound for everything and as a result, I don't hear them all. On to today.

Today, I woke up to the nicest message so far from my coach, Chris Hauth. It read:

"Great job!  That is a SOLID ride and good accomplishment as well and you learned a lot...good!!"
I have a year until my Ironman race. I look forward to the advances I will make in my ability in that time. My knees were pretty sore in the morning and stayed that way all day but otherwise I felt good. I went to Vinh Loi Tofu to see my friend Kevin and eat with The Boss. Later I was looking for an e-mail and came across a message I sent him last August 1st, (2012). It said:

I have come pretty far since then. And I still have my beloved Oakleys.

Here are my workouts for today.

Bike 1:30:00 =  Steady, Z2 HR ride.

 Run 1:20:00 = Include 3x10  Z3.

That's The Puppy sleeping with Sacrificial Lamb. In other news, today is day eight without any alcohol. Until tomorrow my friends.
