What a day! I had a three hour Z2 ride.I swore that I would get up early and get to Encanto Park. I got there about 2:38 pm. One thing I did prior to riding was replace my rear tire with the same Continental Gatorskin 25mm I used for my front tire. I picked it up at H&S Bicycle in Burbank.
I noticed that it was pretty warm when I got to the park but didn't think much about it. I brought four, 24 oz water bottles filled with Skratch Labs. A 50 oz Camelbak Hydration Pack filled with water and six apple cinnamon rice cakes.
After riding for about thirty minutes, my iPhone turned off. I checked it out and it said it was too hot and must cool down. I kept going.
I rode past the second dam along the trail where I encountered three kids throwing rocks outside a golf course. As I passed, a golf ball sailed next to me. I looked in my rear view mirror and saw the kids pretending to throw stuff at me. I stopped and turned around. As I went back, one of the kids picked up his bike ready to flee. I confronted all three 11-13 year old's. None wanted to admit it. I pointed out that I was watching them with my mirror and they looked shocked they were busted! Anyways, they were all "Yes, sir. No, sir." Pretty funny.
By the end I was tired but during the ride I felt like I had plenty of energy. It wasn't until I finished and turned my phone back on that I saw that the temp was in the mid nineties! I had drank and eaten everything I brought! The timing of my food and hydration was so good, that I didn't notice the heat!
My ride gloves were getting stiff between rides, so I decided to give them and my Garmin heart rate monitor strap a wash. I should definitely wash my gloves more often.
The Boss made a heck of a nice meal that was 100% raw and tasty! I was pretty happy about it. My metabolism seemed to be working fast after the ride and this food was perfect for it.
Well, it's late again and I gotta get up early for the event I'm working for Skratch Labs. If you in Buena Park, CA tomorrow, stop by the Evolv Sports Sidewalk Sale at 6769 8th St. Buena Park, CA 90620 between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. Come by and say "Hi." Until tomorrow my friends!
